Simon Devitt is the inaugural recipient of The Warren Prize by the Royal Society of New South Wales, in recognition of the national and international significance of his work as a mid-career quantum researcher.
In a formal acknowledgement of award letter this month, The Royal Society of New South Wales congratulated Dr Devitt for his outstanding achievements and contributions to the scientific community.
“The judges were impressed by the ambition of your research and its scope; quantum computing may well impact many fields when successfully implemented,” says Dr Susan Pond, President of the Royal Society NSW.
“Moreover, you demonstrate a strong publication record in excellent journals, including some of the Nature collection and you are also involved in commercialisation with your start-up connections.”
The Royal Society of NSW established The Warren Prize to recognise one of Australia’s most eminent engineers, Professor William Henry Warren, for his contribution to technological disciplines in Australia and internationally.
